Xmas Celebration 2025
The Kottarakkara Ireland Association proudly presents Onam Celebration 2025, bringing together the Malayali community across Ireland to celebrate Kerala’s most vibrant and culturally rich festival. The event will showcase the true essence of Onam through traditional performances, pookalam (floral carpet) competitions, tug of war, and the grand Onam Sadhya — a traditional vegetarian feast served on banana leaves. Members and families will join hands to recreate the warmth, joy, and togetherness that Onam symbolizes, right here in Ireland.
Beyond cultural programs, the celebration also serves as a platform to strengthen friendships and community bonds. Through music, dance, and festive activities, KIA continues to preserve the spirit of Kerala’s heritage among Malayalis abroad. The event promises a day filled with color, happiness, and unity — celebrating tradition while embracing the harmony of life in Ireland.
Event Schedule
The celebration begins with a warm welcome by the KIA organizing committee, followed by the official inauguration and traditional lamp lighting. Opening speeches from dignitaries will mark the start of a day filled with joy and culture.
Colorful floral carpets (pookalams) will adorn the venue, showcasing creativity and teamwork. Traditional games like musical chairs, lemon-and-spoon race, and tug of war add a fun and nostalgic touch to the morning.
A traditional Kerala feast featuring over twenty dishes served on banana leaves. Members and guests come together to share the authentic flavors of home, symbolizing unity and prosperity.
Enjoy mesmerizing performances including Thiruvathira, cinematic dance, songs, skits, and children’s performances that highlight Kerala’s rich heritage and youthful talent.
The event concludes with the distribution of competition prizes and a heartfelt vote of thanks from the organizers. The evening ends with music, laughter, and a renewed sense of community spirit.
